The gain coincides with other signs that show the troubled U.S. housing market improved at the end of last year...&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br style="background-color: white; line-height: 16px; text-align: left;" /&gt;&lt;br style="background-color: white; line-height: 16px; text-align: left;" /&gt;&lt;span style="background-color: white; line-height: 16px; text-align: left;"&gt;Sales are increasing at a time when the market is flashing other positive signs. Mortgage rates are at record-low levels. Applications for unemployment benefits are near a four-year low. The unemployment rate fell in December to its lowest level in nearly three years. These items combined make for a very small utility bill. In our office you can see a bill for $301 for the hottest month of the year, for a 4456 square foot home in our Twin Creeks neighborhood. Many people have told us that their houses built by another builder of smaller square footage have summer electric bills of two to three times that amount, or even higher.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Please remember to look at the real overall cost of your new home before you make a decision. Our windows are Low-E Double Glazed with trapped air between for its excellent insulating properties.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;We were delighted to receive the Excellence in Energy Performance Award from Oncor last year. We had put the first week May 2010 as an absolute deadline for Completion and Closing. Doug Boyd, Curtis Johnstone and Ed White made sure that it was 100% ready and waiting for us when we arrived from New York to take possession. Despite a myriad of customization changes, they made sure that completion remained exactly on time.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;As a former Construction Engineer, I can say that Boyd Builders took particular care in doing things the right way up front rather than just going forward with the work and then deal with complaints afterwards. It has been said that a builder is only as good as their subcontractors. I can say from experience that Boyd Builders has very good Subs who insist on doing nothing less than high quality work. Their Subs are true professionals. Our interaction with Doug, Curtis and Ed when we made visits during the construction period had always left us with a positive feeling about them. They were very helpful in trying to understand our custom requirements and in accommodating the many changes that we had made, including some which had been made even after the original work was completed!&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;Their service continued to be excellent even after the sale was completed and we took possession. The service of Ed White during the post move-in months was particularly remarkable and we appreciated it a great deal. "If you have any problems, just give us a call. We'll be here" is what Doug Boyd had once told us. Looking back, we know that he had really meant it. A phone call was all it took to take care of some minor issues, which had come up many months after we moved in. We never ever had to call them a second time and that, in our opinion, was very nice.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;It was indeed a pleasure doing business with Boyd Builders and we have great pleasure in recommending them. &amp;nbsp;Consistently high quality of workmanship coupled with remarkably good customer service has made Boyd Builders a very successful company. The Spring Tour has always been a financial success for Boyd Builders Inc. and I'm confident it can pay big dividends for every homebuilding company in our area. When the show started this April, Boyd Builders had 7 unsold homes on the ground, and now all of them have been bought. After being a member in good standing for several years, I was elected by the general membership to be a Director of the Association 2 years ago. &amp;nbsp;This year, I've been asked to serve as Vice President and as a member of the Executive Board.
